Description

Black and white photo of two postal workers Bob Ware (left) and Rufus Phifer (right) at a mailbag stop located at the intersection of Battleground Ave. and Mountain Street. They are standing by a mail catcher arm, by the railroad tracks, that would be swung out from the passing train to catch the hanging pouch of outgoing mail. Mail being delivered to town would be kicked out of the railcar far enough that the mail pouch was not pulled back under the train.
