The first report completed by the Downtown Development Association of Durham, presented to the City Administration and citizens of Durham in 1960. This report details the origins of the Downtown Development Association, founded in 1958, and lists members of the executive committee as well as the directors. There is a list of the Businesses (and their owners) who were members of the Downtown Development Association. Information about Economic Trends, Retail Sales, and general community outlook led the committee to determine it was "time to act." The committee defines their problem as well as their proposed solution -- Urban Renewal. Included with the Durham Development Association's Report 1 is a 1958 report completed by R. Albert Rumbough and associates titled "Trends in the Economy of Durham and Durham County."
