Description

The book describes how Alvin Johnson and Hugh McRae attempted to rescue as many Jews as possible from Germany and settle them in the farming community of Van Eeden, just outside of Wilmington, during the early days of World War II. The book also details the families that settled in Van Eeden and their lives there. Issued as vol. 40, no. 1 of the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society Bulletin.
