Source: "Whitehead Hosiery Mill Started Here in 1907" by Julian Hughes in Burlington Times-News April 5, 1956. Whitehead Hosiery was founded by R. H. "Bob" Whitehead. He built a 3-story brick building on Mebane Street near the railroad tracks in 1913 and the business was in that location for many years. It was sold to May Hosiery in Fall 1935. This picture is probably from the 1920s.
