Photo is the William Thornton Whitsett house known as "The Oaks." William T. Whitsett was the founder of the Whitsett Institute and lived 1866-1934. The house was on Oak Street at the time this photo was taken. Its current site is on Park Road, past the ballfield. The only identified people in this photo are W. T. Whitsett, Zora Boone, Sallie Boone, and the Clapp and Ingle children. The original photo may be in the possession of Susan Brothers Dodder of Whitsett, North Carolina.
