Description

This view of Oneida Cotton Mills in Graham is from a postcard. It's reproduced on page 171 of "Auction & Action: Historical Highlights of Graham, NC" by Durward Stokes. The 4-building complex is on the National Register of Historic Sites. Graham merchants James Sidney Scott and W. Calvin Donnell constructed the Scott and Donnell Mill in 1882 as the town's first cotton mill. In 1887, Lynn Banks Holt, son of textile pioneer, E. M. Holt, purchased the property, renamed it Oneida Cotton Mill, and expanded it.
