A compilation of research collected by a committee formed to produce a history of black schools in Cleveland County. Members of this committee, led by Ezra Bridges, conducted interviews and gathered information from news articles, historical documents, and other sources beginning with the earliest known black school. The documents contain information about individual schools including names and approximate locations, dates of operation, names of founders, principals, and teachers, and budget and salary data, as well as this history of education for African Americans in this county as a whole.
