Description

During World War II, hundreds of Jewish soldiers stationed in N.C. came to Charlotte. Local Jewish families hosted the soldiers, offering meals and invitations to Shabbat services. Many soldiers met Charlotte Jewish people this way, and then married and settled here. Mildred Miller (Granddaughter of Harris Miller) and Hilbert Fuerstman, married in May 1943.
