Wildacres Retreat in Little Switzerland, N.C. was rescued from bankruptcy in 1936 by I.D. Blumenthal. In 1946, he reopened the facilities dedicating the center to "improvement of human relations and interfaith dialogue". Each year thousands of people attend workshops and conferences at Wildacres. I.D. and Madolyn Blumenthal are buried at the summit of the mountain.
