Description

#4 is Mr. Ted Roosevelt Jackson's son (jr.), 548 Caribou Road, Biltmore. These students were admitted to Allen High School because Burnsville had no provision for our black students beyond elementary school. When the one room school house was condemned in Burnsville, our children were bussed into Asheville (Travel time daily was over four hours in unheated buses. This included students from the first grade through eighth grade. Allen high school played a major role here.)
