The library board decided to buy its first bookmobile, seen here with librarian Blanche Hanes Clement and driver Richard Brinegar, on December 10, 1948. The bookmobile, constructed on a pickup truck, carried about 700 books. Mrs. Everett Etchison served as bookmobile librarian for $10 per Wednesday.
