Description

A fresh water stream filled one of the state's earliest public bathing pools, complete with lights for nighttime swim competitions. Its bathhouse rented towels and suits. Excursion trains brought passengers to Cooleemee for a day of shopping and swimming in the stone pool. (Courtesy of Textile Heritage Center at Cooleemee.)
