Former U.S. Senator Sam J. Ervin of North Carolina shared homespun stories about the Supreme Court, weather, and Democrats at the 100th anniversary of the Masonic Picnic. His speech recounted a thorough history of the Masons. Ervin retired in 1974 after 20 years in the U.S. Senate.
