Description

William A. Weant was born in Salisbury in 1840, apprenticed to a tinsmith at age 18, served in the Confederacy, and moved to Mocksville in 1877. He manufactured a range of items including furniture and stills for the distillery businesses. He worked for several years on construction of his own tin-covered elaborately designed casket, in which he was buried in October 1930.
