Description
The Wright Tavern in Wentworth, North Carolina
was built about 1812 and was owned and operated by the Wright family
for more than 100 years. By marriage, the property passed to the
Reid family in the late 1800's and was referred to as the Reid House
or the Reid Hotel. Situated directly across the street from the
Rockingham County Courthouse and having a reputation for fine food,
the tavern hosted many prominent politicians and citizens. This
register contains the names and accounts for guests to the tavern
from 1897-1901.
