North Carolina-issued Confederate currency, $1 No. 3207. Obverse text reads, in part, "The STATE of NORTH CAROLINA/Will pay ONE DOLLAR to Bearer/at the Treasury on or before 1st Jan. 1866." Signed by C. Dewey, bottom right. Top corners, cartouches with the number "1" written in them. Central cartouche shows two human-like figures, flanked on the left by a shipping port and on the right by factory buildings; meant to highlight North Carolina's commercial strengths.
