North Carolina-issued Confederate currency, $1
No. 3207. Obverse text reads, in part, "The STATE of NORTH
CAROLINA/Will pay ONE DOLLAR to Bearer/at the Treasury on or before
1st Jan. 1866." Signed by C. Dewey, bottom right. Top corners,
cartouches with the number "1" written in them. Central cartouche
shows two human-like figures, flanked on the left by a shipping port
and on the right by factory buildings; meant to highlight North
Carolina's commercial strengths. Reverse is blank.
