Letter from Green D. Redwine to Thomas W. Redwine concerning his move from Mississippi, through Tenneesee and into Arkansas and the abundance of wild game, good crops, and large fish in Arkansas. Transcription: Sebastion County Ark May the 17th 1859 Dear Brother I recd your letter dated April the 27th on the 13th of this instant which gave me great pleasure to here from you. Also I recd a letter from you a few weeks since. I recd one from Brother Wm to a few days sence. I recd one from Brother J. W. on the 13th instant stating that they was all well and the Rev. J. C. Redwine had landed at his house about the time I left Mississippi and spent 4 or 5 weeks with him and preached several sermonds and set sail for Tennessee. I have nothing of interest to write at present. I am enjoying good helth at present. Also hope these few lines may find you injoying the same blessings -J. W. R. Cameron are working in Ft Smith yet he geting very well satisfied with the place. He did not like to work there at all at first. We have very good seasons. Corn is sprouting up wonderful some of it nee high. I working for Dr. J. B. ? yet and likely will work for him a year or more. He has a plenty of work to do. I am still pleased with this country and if I can injoy good helth will be no other way. They plenty of game here deer turkey, and squirrels no end to them. Also a great many fish in the river, catfish that will weigh from one pound upto 100 pounds and many other large fis. You talked like coming out some time. I would be happy to see you I am sure. I am glad to here you are injoying your self with the ladies. I can say to you I have not injoyed my self much with the ladies since I left NC. Ladies are scatern here and places of amusement more so. They two very fair ladies five miles frome this place which I expect to see after a bit.
