Letter from W.P. Redwine to his brother Thomas W. Redwine concerning the health of their family, Nancy's fall from a peach tree onto a rock heap, and the death of several friends. Transcription: State of North Carolina Sept 19th Day 1858 Davidson County Der Brother I once more take my pen in hand to right you a few lines to let you know that I am well at this time all though my wife is verry unwell at this time with the ? & bad cole there I hope that she will be able to knock about in a few dayes again my little girl is well as common Fathers pople was all well a few days back exsept Nancy she got hurt very bad by falling out of a peach tree onto a rock heap the limes broak wher she was standing on and holding to and they sed that they thought she was ded for some time tho after a while she come to & they got her to the house & then cent after the docter & thoe some time during the night she got biter and has bin mending slowley every cence I truly hope when these few lines come to hand they will find you enjoying some of the pasion of good helth I also herd from John W. cense I saw you last & he sed that he and family was well and times was tolable good ther now I also herd from J. D. Redwine & Cameron last Sunday Green has the schills and fever I understand that they intend to start west in about 3 or 4 weakes and was not going to come down home no more before they started but was going to right for me to come up and see him start and also right to you if he dose do that way & nothing perticular hinders you mus come over to Salisbury and we will see them start & very like see them for the least time. I can inform you that Margaret Headwick is ded diest on the 8 day of September and old John Kernds is ded & George Fleaser with a good many others witch you probley have bin inform of their departure have not nothing grate importance to right to you at present times hard & dull as ? wheat thrashed out and gleand up and turnd out sorry corn verry short in deed decidley the sorries I ever saw I think I dont no when I shal be up whether at October 6 or 7 or not if I should not I hope that you will right as soon as you get these few ? lines though we are all rather lacking for you down when you yeare are out so I will ? with my few lines in short by telling you that I wisch you good luck and still remain your effectionated brother until death September the 9 day 1858 W.
