Letter from W.P. Redwine to Thomas W. Redwine concerning the health of his family, hunting, and the wages of various professions. Transcription: N. C. Davidson Co March the 8 1858 Kind Brother I take this present opportunity of replying to your kind letter witch I rec'd on last eavning date January th 20 or rather February & witch I was very glad to her from you & your letter found my little famley all well. I have bin ? well Every cence I saw you last Fathers Pople was all well. A few days back I all so can inform you that Green D was down a few weakes back in the time off that first snow that fell the same time that you and Stokes exspicted to come down he sed that he was geting a long finely & comence on his big job at the Millers & has taken in another hand we boath went down at the old gentlemans and taken a small hunt but the snow was two hard the rabbits run on top to good for ers so we killed a few sqirrels & quit hunting I all so can inform you that I rec'd a letter from John W. the same time I rec'd youse that was on the 7 of this instant & he sed that his Little famley was all well Exscept his wife was under confinement By baering the Birth of another fine son I tell you he rites fine news about the country & times ther he ses that a good book keeper can get from 3 to 5 hundred dollars for one year servis he roat this to you pertickular he all so roat to Green D in that letter that good carpenters could get $5 dollars per day No 1 and No 2 4 Dollars per Day & No 3 $2.50 per Da and common ? hands could get from $1.00 to $1.50 per day so I think that will ? & put green stronger in the notion to goe. I can inform you that we have a very rought spell of weather for the time of year we have snow & hail & rain & sleet at the time it is snowing raining & sleeting and the trees looks as if they would brake all to peases at enny time that the condition of the wether at the present time in the lower end of the county I don't now how it is in the little burg of Lexington so I will close my few lines by telling you that I will goe down in a few days to mothers and take your kind letter & John W. likewise & rede the contents to them all so I hope that you will right down soon if you don't come down & don't think that I will be up at the ? ? I hope that you will not ferget to right to John W. & Green D. Redwine so I will add no more unless I her some thing before this letter startes from home Respectley yorse W. P. Redwine to Thos. W.
