Description

Jesse A. Clement built the plantation house around 1828 making it one of the oldest homes in the county. Clement, a prominent farmer and politician in Mocksville, operated a tannery, two plantations, and a brokerage firm which dealt in manufactured plug tobacco, cotton, and wheat. During the Civil War, Clement commanded the Davie Grays, Company F, 13th NC Regiment.
