Transcription of R.B. Paschal's 1860-1861 and 1863-1864 diary entries. Entries are typically short and record a terse summary of the weather and Paschal's activities. There are, however, some entries that reflect war activities and slight references to the activities of other family members. R. B. Paschal was elected sheriff of Chatham County in 1854 and served six successive terms. He also served in the House of Delegates, 1865, and in the North Carolina Senate, 1866.
