The Nosay House was built by William Riley Abbot in 1840 and was eventually sold to Henry Nosay. It is a familiar landmark on Nosay Road in South Mills and is visible from Highway 343 North. Because it is located so near the site of the Battle of South Mills, fought on April 15, 1862, it is reported to have been used as a battlefield hospital. Photo courtesy of the Library of Congress.
