Description

Seven Bridges School in South Mills was one of many small neighborhood schools located throughout the country. Until the 1920s, when school buses came into use, schools had to be located within walking distance of students. Children were sometimes sent to live with relatives who lived near schools. When children became old enough to work on the farms, it often ended their education. Photo courtesy of Alex Leary.
