Description

Milford, the oldest two-story brick home in North Carolina, was built by Thomas or William Palin in 1746 on land deeded to them by their grandfather Thomas Relfe. The house, still standing on Shipyard Road, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and a brick found in the north chimney of the third floor is dated 1746.
