Camden County native and Wake Forest graduate Dempsey B. Burgess was an eight-grade teacher and principal at Shiloh High School from 1946 until 1952 and superintendent of Camden County Schools from 1959 until the early 1970s. He loved Camden County history and enjoyed challenging young people to grow, advising them, "Don't say you can't. Give it your best. You might be surprised, but I won't." Photo courtesy of A.
