Description

Etchison was known to everyone in the Cana community as ""Uncle Lukey."" A well known beekeeper, Etchison always said, ""The bees have taught me much concerning life, so in return I'll be glad to share it with you."" He used his skills as an inventor and cabinet maker to fashion his bee hives. He also invented a cotton picker, tobacco setter, grain cleaner and a honey extractor. The photograph shows Etchison with his secretary made by Lamb Taylor, a Farmington furniture maker. The secretary now stands in the history room at the Davie County Public Library.
