Description
The residence, built around 1840, is a two-story four-bay hall-parlor house with transitional Federal/Greek Revival features. It has a shed-roof front porch with tapered sawn posts, six-over-six sash windows, heavy six-panel doors on its south-facing main facade, flush 12 inch sheathing in its interior, two Federal mantels with heavily molded shelves, and a dogleg stair with delicate balustrade and simple newels. More information about this photograph can be found on page 246-247 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
