Description
The residence, built circa 1850, is a two-story three-bay house with a low-hip roof that is distinguished by a deep frieze that has molded band and wedge-shaped modillions, six-over-six sash windows, two brick end chimneys, plain cornerblocks, and a one-story porch supported by octagonal posts. The house is significant to Chatham County architectual history for its approach to vernacular Greek Revival domestic architecture. More information about these photographs can be found on page 264-265 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
