Description
The residence is a one-and-a-half-story one-bay log-and-frame house. It is joined with V-notches and has a rubblestone chimney. Between 1830 and 1850, a late Federal or early Greek Revival mortise-and-tenon frame addition was added to the house's northern elevation. This addition gave it its current configuration with a boxed cornice, two-bay facade with a double-leaf entrance framed with sidelights, and a center-hall interior with a half-turn stair enclosed above the winders. The photograph shows the earliest portion of the house. More information about this photograph can be found on page 268-269 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
