Description

The residence is a two-story farm house built circa 1890. It was supposedly created from two log pens to form the core of the asymmetrical L-shaped frame house with its rear ell. The house has two wide end chimneys of stone and brick, turned newels on the straight-flight stair, a center-hall interior, tongue-and-groove board sheathing and wainscoting, mantels with sawn friezes and pilasters, and a plain wraparound porch that replaced the original high-hip one. More information about this photograph can be found on page 298-299 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
