Description
The photograph shows the early log portion of the Freeland Goodwin House. The residence, built around 1905, is a one-story L-shaped three-bay triple-gable house which was built onto the gable end of a 19th century log dwelling that had a massive stone-and-brick end chimney. Other features of the house include a projecting chamfered bay, wraparound porch, and scalloped shingling framing the double ventolators in the gables. More information about this photograph can be found on page 316 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
