Description
The residece, built circa 1875, is a two-story three-bay house with a single-pile L-plan, sidelights and transom in molded surrounds framing the single-leaf entry, cornice returns, molded capitals on the plain cornerposts, two end chimneys, and a mantel in the main room with molded-diamond frieze panel. One of the chimneys is original with an offset brick stack and stone base treated with coursed roughcast. In the 1940s the one-story ell was enlarged and the front porch changed to two stories. More information about this photograph can be found on page 317 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
