Description

The residence is the product of two construction eras. The first occurred circa 1860, the second circa 1920. It is a two-story three-bay hip-roof house with wraparound porch, second-story hip-roof portico, single-pile central-hallway plan, exterior end common-bond brick chimneys, ell, straight-flight stair, and interior sheathed with boards of various widths. The wraparound porch and second-story portico are supposed by tapered square-in-section posts and embellished with a narrow vertical-board frieze band. More information about this photograph can be found on page 324 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
