Description

The residence is the result of two L-plan houses placed at right angles to each other. The northern L-plan structure, a variation of the common 1900 triple-A central-hallway house, has cornice returns, quatrefoil ventilators, shuttered four-over-four sash windows that are paired at its five-bay main facade, one simple Victorian mantel with sawn frieze, and an internal brick chimney. The southern L-plan strucutre is plainer. It has a massive stone-and-brick chimney at its ell and an internal chimney stack. More information about this photograph can be found on page 335 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
