Description

The residence, built most likely in the mid-19th century, is a one-and-a-half-story house. Features of the original house include a deep boxed cornice and double-pile form. In the 1920s, the house was altered to include an asymmetrically placed brick end chimney (replacing the original stone chimney), enclose a portion of the original porch for additional rooms, and add a bungalow-style gable-roof dormer and porch posts with brick plinths. More information about this photograph can be found on page 345 of the book The Architectural Heritage of Chatham County, North Carolina written by Rachel Osborn and Ruth Selden-Sturgill.
