Description

This article details the campaign of Reverend Crawford for the NC State House in the 1960s. He had previously been on the Board of Aldermen (now Winston's city council). Reverend Crawford was the second Black alderman, following Reverend Kenneth Williams, who was the first of modern times to be elected. Reverend Crawford was a Methodist Episcopal minister. A sample of a 1964 campaign card is on the right.
