Description

Dr. Alfred Wiseman, the brother of Dr. James Washington Wiseman, studied at the University Medical Center in New York. While an assistant surgeon for the Seventh North Carolina Infantry during the Civil War, Union soldiers captured Dr. Wiseman, who had stayed behind to care for the wounded, in Sharpsburg, Maryland on September 19, 1862. After the war Dr. Wiseman practiced medicine in the Jerusalem community of Davie County.
