Description

Battle and hospital directory return indicating the character and nature of the wound Hiram L. Grant received during action at Morris Island, South Carolina. He was wounded severely in his mid-right thigh by a conical ball. The ball was extracted and was doing well. Hiram L. Grant was a Sergeant in Company A's 6th Connecticut Regiment at the time and treated at Hospital No. 5 in Beaufort, South Carolina. A note on the report indicates C. M. Christy was in charge at the hospital.
