Ocracoke Preservation Society has maintained an extensive record of both deaths on Ocracoke island and of Ocracoke natives. During the nineties, the record reports the names of the deceased, the deceased's next of kin, and the date of death. Many of the deceased's entries include a funeral program, a clipping of an obituary, or associated newspaper articles. Beginning in 1980, each entry includes a record (either printed or handwritten) of the eulogy given at each funeral. Many of these eulogies were given by Reverend Jimmy Creech at Ocracoke United Methodist Church.
