This cemetery is located in an area formerly known as Sidestown. The cemetery belonged to Sidestown AME Zion Church (later called Ardmore AME Zion Church. The church stood facing Madison Avenue (formerly Alspaugh Street) until it was demolished after World War II. Most of Sidestown was sold and developed in the 1950's thru the 1970's. Where the church once stood is now a grassy field, however the cemetery remains in the middle of the block. A survey conducted in 1975 identified 31 stones.
