John W. Scott was the man who laid out the Town of Sanford, had the land surveyed and divided into lots and streets in 1871. His wife was Mrs. Kate McLean Scott. Photo loaned by Harold W. Gavin, attorney, Sanford, and copied by Hal Tysinger, 1971.
