Description
Ledger for the Rodgers/Robertson Store that operated in the Woodsdale community of Person County. It was not until the early 1890s that the railroad came through Person County, which means that when the ledger was being kept all supplied were brought to the store via wagon. The store also housed the post office from the 1840s to the 1860s and again in the 1890s. The store was operated by John (Jack) Rogers IV (1762-1860) and then later by his son-in-law, Dr. Edwin Johnson Robertson who served as postmaster. The last operator was James Robertson. The store ceased operations in the 1940s or 1950s with James Robertson as the last operator.
