Description
Dewey, former governor of New York, paid a visit
to Mocksville while campaigning for the presidency in 1948. The
picture made on the steps of the courthouse includes, from left to
right, Wilburn F. Stonestreet, C. Frank Stroud, Nancy Tutterow, C.R.
Vogler, State Senator Burr Brock Sr., Katherine Hoots Reavis, and
Cecil Morris. Harry S. Truman defeated Dewey in the election.
