Description

Built around 1920 and owned by Walter Clement, the lodge featured pine log construction, big open fireplaces and a comfortable porch. Located three blocks west of the square on Avon Street, it contained eleven rooms. Clement held a contest to name the lodge and offered a prize of $5.00. Frank Stroud's entry won. Mo-Da-No-Ca stands for Mocksville Davie North Carolina. The lodge burned down a few years after opening.
