Hartwell V. Scarborough of Ra-
leigh, Class of 1902, said he \ originally opposed to the move when it came up for decision be fore the North Carolina Baptist State Convention in 1946.
‘*T hated it niighty bad and voted against it, but since they voted against me I’m for Wake Forest. The fact that the seminary: is here softens it a lot.’’
He was referring to the South- eastern Baptist Theological Semi- nary which will take over the whole campus when the college vacates the buildings.

WAKE FOREST, May 21—Wake Forest College, hours away from moving 110 miles to a new home, has the foundation for a bright future despite such problems as “Baptist bigots and heresy ‘dunt- ers,’ Dr. Hubert McNeil Poteat declared here today.

“Tt would seem,” he said, ‘‘that Baptists ought to be freer from the blasting blight of bigotry than another religious group, since the Baptist position rests, not upon any formal creed, but upon three fundamental positions: the lord- ship of Christ, the supreme au- thority of the Scriptures, and the complete and absolute competence of every human soul in the sight of God. Noting that items in both build- ing and endowment categories might be expanded or rearranged according to the money available, the report said, ‘“‘In other words, this is a broad plan of operation designed to challenge all who are interested in Wake Forest Col- lege.”’

And Miss Jo Williams, who once operated the college cafeteria and has seen thousands of Wake For- est students come and go, said, “No, I’m not going to.be senti- mental today. It’s a long story— too long to tell this afternoon. I’m just fixing for life to start.”
