Description

On August 6, 1945 during World War II, Davie County native and Enola Gay bombardier Ferebee released the first atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan contributing to the unconditional surrender by Japan eight days later. Col. Ferebee stands beside the highway marker for the Ferebee family home place on U.S. 64 West, dedicated on Memorial Day 1991.
