Description

The swollen Yadkin River washed two feet over the new Hall's Ferry bridge, normally safely 30 feet above the water line. As the rising waters attracted many onlookers, Sheriff Flynt of Forsyth County roped off the bridge at the Forsyth end to prevent traffic from crossing -- a few minutes before one of the sections gave way. Dr. Anderson took the pictures.
