Description
A scrapbook created by Milton Steele Brown that contains newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and photographs related to Tarboro events, town associations, and local businesses mainly from 1932-1947. Many of the newspaper clippings highlight Brown's work within Tarboro as he ocuppied several influential positions. The scrapbook contains details about how Brown, Manager of Tarboro Coca-Cola Bottling, organized an extensive scrap metal drive within the community for WWII homefront efforts. Brown, with the help of his Coca-Cola employees and company trucks, would collect scrap metal all across town and was able to outperform other similar drives within the state. Photographs of Tarboro Coca-Cola employees collecting scrap metal from the company trucks and an additonal photograph of a scrap metal drive at a local African American elementary school are included.
