A scrapbook collecting newspaper articles about Brunswick County's Battle of Lexington reenactments and the Brunswick County Bicentennial Celebration; black and white and color photographs from the reenactments and the Bicentennial Celebration; and materials from the Bicentennial Celebration such as programs, pamphlets, ribbons, bumper stickers, and tickets. Highlighted elements of the celebration include the colonial life and battlefield reenactments; the parades; the restoration and ringing of the courthouse bell in Southport, N.C.; the time capsule; the opening of a museum exhibit showcasing Revolutionary War maritime history in Brunswick County; the collection of church histories; the sale of Bicentennial merch like bumper stickers, buttons, and flags; the essay contest; the Miss Bicentennial contest and winner Dianne King; several musical performances including a cantata and an outdoor musical drama; the production of a history book about Brunswick County by Dr. E. Lawrence Lee; the youth debate contest; the oral history project; the formation of the Tar Heel Junior Historian Association; the visit by the Armed Forces Bicentennial Caravan; the painting contest and exhibit; the photography contest and selected entries; Bicentennial Committee, town, and Historic Forum meetings; the North Carolina Bicentennial Ball held by Governor Holshouser; and the procuerment of a historical marker for the Boundary House near Calabash, N.C.
