Description
Gaither studied law under Chief Justice Richmond
Pearson at Richmond Hill Law School. Admitted to the bar in 1875, he
practiced in Mocksville for approximately 60 years. He served as
solicitor of the Davie County Inferior Court during the first years
of his practice. During World War I, he chaired the County Board of
Defense. Gaither served as vice-president of the North Carolina Bar
Association and was a member of the American Bar Association. He
served as a director of the Wachovia Bank and Trust Company and
president of the Bank of Davie from 1916 to 1934. (Courtesy of Lash
